Fundraising Ideas

The world we like to imagine is a nearly perfect world, where schools always have enough money, churches would need little money to run the church and help with their different charities. Sports teams would sell enough tickets that they wouldn't always need money. Sadly, that isn't the world we live in. and there are always causes that need fundraising. Usually enough people can be persuaded to help do the fundraising; the difficulty is finding new and interesting ways to actually make money.
Do you need ideas for fundraising for a school, church, or other organization? You may well be in the right place. We've compiled some of the best fundraising ideas to help you raise the money you need.
One classic fundraising idea is to hold a raffle and for the prizes to give away to be obtained as donations from local businesses and individuals. Good examples of popular raffle prizes include handmade quilts, fine art, Longaberger baskets, gift certificates for stores or restaurants, and themed gift baskets. Then, simply offer raffle tickets for whatever price you desire. Don't go underpricing or overpricing the raffle tickets. If you underprice, you won't make any real money and if you overprice, you won't sell many tickets. Raffle tickets can cost anywhere from fifty cents to five dollars depending on the value of the prizes being offered.
Selling items is another good way to raise money. Some popular fundraising items are candy, gourmet food and scented candles. There are some companies who specialize in fundraising, and offer colorful catalogs you can hand out to prospective customers.
What about a traditional bake sale? Everyone loves fresh homemade baked goods! Recruit a few members of your church, school or organization to donate some of their time to preparing their favorite cakes, cookies and pies. Delicious treats at moderate prices can ensure a very successful sale!
A good summer event is a car wash. Many schools offer car washes on roadsides and parking lots and some stores will let you use their lots for a fundraising car wash, all you have to do is ask! For a successful car wash, make sure you have bright, eye-catching signs that are easily visible from the road. You could offer the car wash for free and invite donations, or simply charge a small fee for the car wash.
Auctions can be another great fundraising idea. They works well at a church with a lot of members. Some members can sign up to provide a valuable service, and others can bid on the service they want. Examples include housekeeping, personal shopping, manicures, dog walking, handmade arts and crafts, and more.
Yard or garage sales work well and if you get everyone to run one together it could be a great sale. Ask people to donate clothing, toys, electronics, home decor -- anything they no longer need or want. Then invite the community to your giant sale and watch the profits roll in! To raise even more money and help customers beat the heat, try a lemonade stand along with the sale.
Hopefully these few ideas will get you thinking about the different sorts of fundraising event you could have. There are lots more, and with some research and a bit of creative thinking, you can come up with the perfect fundraiser for your organization!
